WLRN News | Multimedia Producer
As WLRN's multimedia producer, I'm responsible for WLRN's digital content during Morning Edition, and I assist in the radio production for newscasts. I populate our website using our CMS and help develop audience engagement strategies with our digital team.
When I help report and produce features highlighting the South Florida community, I look for stories like Hy Vong, an iconic Vietnamese restaurant with a cult following in Little Havana. I explain how the restaurant's legacy endures thanks to an unexpected friendship between two women. |
VOICES Program | Fellow
Sage Kamiya didn't know he was different until he saw himself in the mirror. Kamiya is one of the descendants of the Yamato Colony, a Japanese agricultural community from the early 1900s.
In our podcast, Rooting Identity, my group members and I explored how those of the Asian American diaspora explored their identity and culture through agriculture. For three months, I researched the history of the Yamato Colony and interviewed its descendants in order to craft this audio story. This project was made as part of the Asian American Journalist Association's VOICES program, a remote multimedia fellowship. |
